Huaiyin is one of the four main districts in Jinan, covering an area of 151.48 square kilometers with 600,000 permanent residents. It is becoming "a new threshold of Shandong, a new trade zone of Jinan, a new center of the city and a new cultural highland".

Huaiyin adheres to the policy of integration and opening-up and has actively joined the economic group of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the area around the Bohai Sea, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Central Plains, thus accumulating a wide-ranging flow of capital, technology, products, industries, and talent.

Vigorous Huaiyin

Huaiyin is prominent for its high-quality development. In recent years, its local financial revenue increased from 1.4 billion yuan ($200 million) to 4.56 billion yuan; GDP increased from 26.34 billion yuan to 46.6 billion yuan; and investment increased from 4.28 billion yuan to 11.0 billion yuan.

It is estimated that by 2020, the local financial revenue will reach 7.2 billion yuan; GDP will reach 57 billion yuan; and investment will reach 18 billion yuan.

Transportation advantages

High-speed rail, highways, light rails, long-distance transport, and passenger transport blend seamlessly in Huaiyin, forming a sound transport system. It is a 30-minute drive to Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport, which connects more than 110 large- and medium-sized cities at home and abroad.

The Beijing-Shanghai Express Railway runs through the west of Jinan. The newly-operated Renaissance high-speed train only takes 1.3 hours to Beijing and three hours to Shanghai. Its yearly operating capacity ranks second in China. The 1.5 hour high-speed rail economic circle covers nearly 300 million people.

The three-hour high-speed rail economic circle links with three municipalities, reaching out to six provinces, accounting for 10 percent of the land area, 37 percent of the national population and 43 percent of nationwide GDP.

Ecological advantages

Huaiyin district enjoys wetland of 50 square kilometers and hot spring resources with an average of 3,000 cubic meters water volume. Jinan West Wetland Park, covering an area of 33 square kilometers, is the largest state-level wetland park in the northern region of the Yangtze River.

Five mayor industry

Huaiyin, supported by five leading industries including health care, cultural tourism, business exhibition, consumption logistics and intelligent manufacturing, is endeavoring to remold itself in an image of "innovative vitality, opening-up and modernization, ecological livability and harmonious civilization".

(1) Healthcare industry

Jinan International Center for Medical Sciences (JMC), which is under construction, has a planned area of 45 square kilometers and is a major industrial project led by Shandong provincial government and implemented by Jinan municipal government.

The area, adjacent to the Jinan West Railway Station, lies east to Lashan River West Road and Beijing-Taipei High-speed railway line, west to Tianjin-Pukou railway, south of Xiaoqing River and the Huaiyin-Shizhong boundary line, and north to the Yellow River and G35 Expressway line.

The JMC, is aiming at the international forefront of the high-end medical and health industry. It strives to create an international medical and health industry park based in Shandong province.

It integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, preventative health care, health tourism, and rehabilitation medical care as a whole, with a reasonable layout and resource sharing.

The center is expected to become the tipping point of the strategic transformation and upgrading of Huaiyin's industry.

(2) Cultural Tourism

Several cultural projects such as Shandong Grand Theatre, libraries, art museums and the new branch of the Shandong Science and Technology Museum, has formed the largest cultural industry cluster in Shandong. The cluster integrates high-end performing arts, cultural creativity, commercial leisure, natural tourism, and science and education exhibitions.

Huaiyin is also home to China's largest intangible cultural heritage expo park Jinan Fantawild Oriental Heritage, which covers an area of 66.7 hectares and is capable to receive 3 million tourists annually.

(3) Business Exhibition

The Shandong International Conference and Exhibition Center, with a building area of 550,000 square meters, is the largest in northern region of Yangtze River and has the most functions.

It is a business and exhibition center integrating exhibitions, conferences, and business services, being intelligent, modern and influencing the areas around Bo Hai. It has signed a strategic operational management agreement with the companies in the international conference and exhibition industry to become a focal point for the development of the business exhibition industry at home and abroad.

Huaiyin is developing rapidly in attracting headquarters and business services, and thus has a prosperous real-estate economy. A total of 97 high-rises covering an area of 4 million square meters with complete business facilities help improve the comprehensive services of the Jinan West Railway Station area.

(4) Consumer Logistics

In 1904, Jinan opened a trading port voluntarily and became the first inland "Special Economic Zone" in modern Chinese history. Nowadays, the exotic styles of the old buildings including Hong Ji Tang, Xi Gu Gallery, Fuchengxin, Christian Church, and the Fengda Bank present the unique charm of a hundred-year-old trading port.

Jinan opened a foreign trading port in Huaiyin in 1904 which became the first inland "special economic zone" in modern China.

Now, commercial buildings with exotic architectural styles of Shandong Hongjitang Pharmaceutical Group, Xigu gallery, Fengda Bank and Christian church, the unique charm of the hundred-year-old trading port.

The "Impression · Jinan Spring World" commercial block features elegant and antique towns and it is home to the Tea Culture Creative Industry Park and the Tea Culture Exposition Park.

The Boming, Guangyou and Laotun tea markets bring together a unique business model and a unique consumer experience.

Huaiyin makes positive advances in its commerce and trade service industry with quality improvement and upgrades to improve Jiahua Plaza, Hexie Plaza and Liancheng Plaza. The trend of new consumption has driven the construction of the whole urban regional logistics center.

(5) Intelligent manufacturing
