Automobile parts industry

In 2019, there were 13 automobile parts manufacturing enterprises in Gangcheng district with an output value of 2.1 billion yuan ($300 million). Their products are used in engines, gearboxes, transmission brake systems, and more, with an annual output of 50 million sets of auto parts.

Shandong province is an important production, supply, and export center for automobile parts. It forms an industrial cluster with large enterprises like Huifeng Transmission, HGL Gear, and Hebei Zhongxing Automobile Co. Along with Shandong Heavy Industry Group and Sinotruk, the enterprises in the industrial cluster share steel wheel designs, hot stamping parts, and hydraulic molding parts, which reduces overall resource consumption, promotes product upgrades, and enhances competitiveness.

Prefabricated buildings industry

Gangcheng district, which is listed as a provincial prefabricated construction demonstration spot, has taken advantage of its rich steel resources to extend the industrial chain and speed up the development of prefabricated construction. Laigang Group in Gangcheng is one of the first national industrial bases for prefabricated construction, leading green prefabricated steel structure buildings across the country.

The Zhou Xuhong Academician Workstation has been established in the national industrial base. It has independent intellectual property rights for a new-generation prefabricated steel structure construction technology system, which has become industry standard. It has attracted 11 steel structure processing enterprises with an annual processing capacity of 500,000 tons. There are eight green construction new materials enterprises that have participated in the construction of key projects such as Jinan West Station, the Shandong Science and Technology Building, and Jinan Kaixuan New City.

Powder new materials industry

Powder metallurgy is the strongest industry in Gangcheng. Gangcheng has been approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology as a "National New Material High-tech Industrialization Base" and a "National Torch Powder Metallurgy Characteristic Industrialization Base". It is also one of three new material industrial clusters in Shandong. In 2016, the district was named the "Powder Metallurgy City of China". It has cultivated enterprises such as SAIC Powder Jinheng Powder, Dingyi Powder, and more.

Intelligent parking industry

The Intelligent Garage Industrial Park is located in the High-tech Zone of Gangcheng. The park plans to build an urban parking industrial park covering an area of more than 150 mu (10 hectares) and a professional intelligent parking industrial park integrating with a 3D garage. Laigang Taida Garage, a state-level high-tech enterprise, drafts  national standards, industry standards, and garage maintenance standards for mechanical garages in China. It can produce more than 200 types of garage products and is a famous brand in China's parking industry.

Electronic information industry

The Electronic Information Industry Park mainly develops electronic substrate industries such as flexible copper clad laminates, ultra-thin copper clad laminates, flexible conductive films, and flexible circuit boards. It has attracted many important enterprises, including Shandong Golding Electronics Co Ltd, Shandong Brilliant Information Materials Co Ltd, Shandong Changrui Electronic Technology Co Ltd, and more.

Modern logistics industry

Xinzhuang subdistrict in Gangcheng district has 56 administrative villages with a total population of 44,000 people and a total area of 145 square kilometres. It has been named a "national civilized village/town" and a "national beautiful environment township". Located in the middle of Shandong province, Xinzhuang occupies a strategic location with several important railways and highways crossing through it, which is conducive to the construction of regional centres in the modern logistics industry. The newly planned Jinan-Laiwu Highway is currently under construction and will help improve urban logistics. The park also serves as a transfer station for ships, as it is located between Qingdao Port and Rizhao Port.

Non-woven industry

The non-woven industrial park on Yanzhuang Street in Gangcheng district has received 3 billion yuan in investment and covers an area of 6,000 mu (400 hectare). More than 20 large enterprises in the non-woven industry are operating here, forming a unique industrial cluster. In 2019, the parks total revenue reached 1.6 billion yuan and it employed over 2,000 people. It is equipped with steam resources and heating pipe networks, which serve as safe, cheap resources and reduce costs for enterprises. The Laiwu Non-woven Industry Association has been established inside the park, strengthening industrial self-discipline and supervision, making information and resource sharing easier, and guiding the sustainable development of non-woven enterprises.
