Jinan residents can now fly directly to Tokyo as the city opened its first international flight of 2020 on Jan 7.

The round-trip flight, SC8887/8, operated by Shandong Airlines, is scheduled to run once every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.

Tokyo is Japan's political, economic, cultural and transportation center and also the host city of the 2020 Olympic Games. The new flight gives locals a convenient way to watch the Summer Olympic Games this year.

The Jinan-Tokyo flight will strongly promote economic and cultural exchange between the two cities.

Jinan has always attached great importance to international flights. The city opened a total of 10 international flights in 2019. 

Officials said that they will continue to expand international flights and help the city develop into a modern and international metropolitan center.
