The Jinan government announced that a new tram line will link the city's Jiyang and Jinan Pioneer Zone.

The tram line, 35.5 kilometers long, will include 16 stations and run along Fenghuan Road, No 220 National Highway, Guangming Street and Zheng'an Street.

Electric trams are gradually implemented in the urban public transportation system due to their reliability, comfort, low energy consumption and environmental friendliness.

Local officials said that tram line will be constructed in the city's Shanghe county, Pingyin county, Gangcheng district and Laiwu district, where there are currently no metro lines.

In recent years, Jinan has been ramping up efforts to promote the construction of trams to improve urban functionality, save space, and alleviate traffic congestion.
