Jinan, capital of east China's Shandong province, has been ramping up efforts to develop science and technology, achieving fruitful results.
The city's main indicators in scientific and technological innovation lead the province, according to data from the Jinan science and technology bureau.
The turnover of municipal technical contracts reached 20.22 billion yuan ($2.92 billion), ranking first in the province.
The output value of its high-tech industries above designated size increased 12.93 percent year-on-year, also ranking first in the province.
The city currently is home to 45 provincial academician workstations, 93 provincial key laboratories, and three provincial technology innovation centers.
Jinan has accelerated the establishment of a comprehensive national science center. The city is focusing on promoting the planning and construction of the Jinan Science Innovation City of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Four R&D institutions have been established, including the Shandong Blockchain Research Institute.
Jinan has also signed a cooperation agreement with Tsinghua University to attract more talent and resources.
A total of 13 R&D institutions from the Chinese Academy of Sciences have been launched in the city offering more scientific resources for research and development.
