
Jinan customs released 10 measures to promote the export of agricultural products, especially the export of ginger, one of the city's specialties, according to Chai Hongxiang, vice-director of Jinan customs.
Enterprises are encouraged to establish a complete food safety management system, with products required to pass international certification standards.
More efforts will be made to strengthen cooperation between local enterprises and universities. A ginger R&D center has been established with Jiangnan University. The ginger production chain has been extended from fresh ginger to more than 50 varieties, including ginger slices, powder, and beverages.
The qualification of export enterprises can be applied online via the customs management platform to reduce time and costs.
The ginger industry in Jinan has seen rapid development in recent years. In the first half of this year, the city exported 47,200 tons of ginger and series products, worth 566 million yuan ($87 million). The brand value of Laiwu ginger reached more than 12 billion yuan.
