The Jinan Start-up Area for Growth Drivers Transformation was named among the first batch of collaborative innovation pilot units for pollution reduction and carbon reduction.

The first batch comprises 21 cities and 43 industrial parks.

The pilot work will commence in January 2024 and will last for three years.

Since its establishment in April 2021, the Jinan start-up area has been promoting collaborative innovation in pollution reduction and carbon reduction across multiple levels and fields.

The area has been emphasizing policy innovation and industrial upgrading, promoting the construction of green buildings and distributing photovoltaic power generation projects in enterprises and villages.

The area has also conducted greenhouse gas monitoring, established two high-precision and five medium-precision monitoring stations, and utilized satellite remote sensing, unmanned aerial vehicles, and ground-based monitoring to form a cutting-edge greenhouse gas monitoring system within the country.

The area has also given priority to collaborative innovation and demonstration. For example, the BYD painting workshop in Jinan adopts advanced exhaust gas treatment technology to improve the level of exhaust gas treatment and reduce pollutant emissions. All fuel forklifts within the factory area have been replaced with electric ones.

The Jinan start-up area will further improve pilot plans, strengthen policy, funding, and technological supports, and enhance the collaborative governance capacity for pollution reduction and carbon reduction to promote the construction of a green, low-carbon, and high-quality development pilot zone.
