Jinan's unique hydrogeological conditions have given rise to the four major spring clusters in the city's ancient urban area: the Baotu Spring Cluster, the Black Tiger Spring Cluster, the Pearl Spring Cluster, and the Wulongtan Spring Cluster.

The Wulongtan Spring Cluster, also known as the Five Dragon Pool Spring Cluster, is located north of Luoyuan Bridge, on the west side of the city's moat. In 1985, the area was developed into Five Dragon Pool Park. The spring cluster consists of 29 springs, including the Five Dragon Pool, Tianjing Spring, Yueya Spring (Crescent Spring), and Tanxi Spring.
