According to a forecast report released by Ctrip, China's leading online travel platform, Jinan — the capital of East China's Shandong province — is expected to experience a surge in its tourism market during the upcoming May Day holiday.

So far, flight bookings to Jinan have risen by 53 percent and inbound tourism bookings have increased by 82 percent compared to the same period last year.

Jinan has launched a total of 266 tourism activities across five sectors: culture, ecological sightseeing, rural tourism, sporting events, and consumption experiences.

Jinan will host a series of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) fairs at Baihuazhou Historical and Cultural Block, Kuanhouli Business Block, Shangxin Street, and the Old Commercial Port.

Blending tradition with the city's iconic spring culture, tea arenas and literary gatherings will be set up at tea stalls by Heihu Spring and in tea rooms along Qushuiting Street.

Meanwhile, theaters across Jinan will stage ICH performances, featuring traditional art forms such as Lyu Opera and Laiwu Bangzi Opera.

The "smart service" for the spring water tour is a highlight of the city's tourism activities, as visitors can participate in a check-in activity via the WeChat mini program. By completing the designated check-ins, visitors can redeem cultural gifts.

Jinan will offer a variety of flower-viewing opportunities, including a lavender field in Zhangqiu district, a rose garden in Pingyin county, and 12 flower-themed routes, to continue the excitement of the Flower Festival activities.

The city will also hold sporting events in scenic areas and commercial districts. Activities such as bicycling, street dancing, and tai chi will cater to the sports needs of people across all age groups. E-sports events will be hosted as well.
