Jinan steps up efforts to become more foreign-friendly
Jinan is stepping up efforts to create a more foreign-friendly environment and offer greater convenience to international residents.
At a news conference on May 20, Qi Shubin, deputy director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Jinan Municipal Committee, introduced seven major initiatives to boost the city's internationalization as part of a three-year action plan (2024–2026).
The measures include improving multilingual signage, promoting local culture to international residents, celebrating sister-city anniversaries with Yamaguchi, Japan and Sacramento, the United States, attracting foreign investment through international events, enhancing services for expats, inviting foreigners to experience traditional Chinese festivals, and expanding youth exchanges with cities like Suwon, South Korea.
According to Qi, these efforts aim to improve convenience and quality of life for foreign residents and help build Jinan into a more open and globally influential city.
