East section of Jinan Metro Line 6 begins trial operation
The east section of Jinan Metro Line 6 began its three-month no-load trial operation on Aug 26. It is scheduled to open to the public by the end of this year.
The east section of the line runs from Shandong University Station to Liangwang Station, spanning 19.5 kilometers. It has 17 stations and a metro depot, connecting some of the city's key areas, including Shandong University, the Central Business District (CBD), Qilu Software Park and Jinan East Railway Station, while also linking with Lines 2 and 3.
The trial operation will be carried out under real-world conditions, focusing on personnel training, emergency drills, automatic operation testing and integrated system testing. Key systems such as trains, tracks, signaling, and power supply will also be tested to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation in the future.
The east section of Metro Line 6 project was officially approved on Aug 22. The line is expected to enhance commuting efficiency, promote regional economic exchanges and inject new impetus into Jinan's development.
