Fair on rails delights Spring Festival travelers
Shandong's Qilu No 1 tourism train became a mobile Yellow River fair on Feb 2, the first day of this year's Spring Festival travel rush, offering travelers an immersive experience of the province's traditional culture and local specialties.
Operated by China Railway Jinan Group, the train acts as a moving cultural exhibit. Passengers enjoyed live demonstrations of intangible cultural heritage, including paper-cutting and shehuo mask, and participated in hands-on activities like making window decorations and writing Spring Festival couplets.
The initiative supports rural vitalization by promoting regional products such as Yimeng stir-fried chicken and peach wood carvings. Local village officials joined the journey to introduce these products and connect producers with consumers.
By bringing traditional markets onto the trains, the train helps preserve cultural heritage while expanding sales channels for rural products.
