Harnessing the strength of overseas Chinese — Jinan overseas Chinese take action to prevent and control the epidemic

Shi Qianping, executive chairman of the municipal Association of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs and DMI International Industrial Group, a key enterprise of the Overseas Chinese Dream Incubator, has helped gather donations worth 1 million yuan ($152,900). This is the first donation by the overseas Chinese community in Jinan.

Zheng Yan, chairman of the Canada Qilu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and vice chairman of the municipal Association of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs, mobilized members of the Qilu Chinese Chamber of Commerce to donate funds and supplies worth 350,000 yuan. These supplies include 500 tons of disinfectant with a value of about 250,000 yuan. Wang Ziyin, an overseas Chinese from Russia, helped gather supplies such as 50,000 disposable surgical protective masks and shoe covers. The first batch of epidemic prevention supplies donated by the Shandong Chamber of Commerce in Netherlands was shipped to Wuhan by air. In addition, 100,000 masks and some protective garments were donated by the South Korea Federation of Overseas Chinese.

A thousand protective masks were purchased under the leadership of Li Sutong, chairman of AtomHorizon Electric (Jinan) Co Ltd, an overseas Chinese company based in Jinan.

The Hebei and Shandong Townsmen Association in Brazil mobilized epidemic prevention supplies such as 100,000 medical masks from different sources. The Alumni Association of Shandong University in South California and the Alumni Federation of Chinese Universities in South California have raised funds worth $40,000 and purchased 25,000 medical masks and 5,000 goggles in the United States.
