A delegation led by Wang Zhonglin, Party secretary of Jinan, capital city of East China's Shandong province, visited some State-owned enterprises in Beijing on May 21 to further cooperation.

During the three-day tour, Wang inspected China Railway Construction Corporation, China Development Bank Capital, China Communications Construction Corporation, Aviation Industry Corporation of China and Price Waterhouse Coopers, one of the four largest international accounting firms.

The inspection tour aimed to seek further cooperation with central enterprises, help Jinan accelerate the construction of a headquarters base for central enterprises and cluster more high-end sectors, talents, technologies and modern service industry.

Jinan is home to high-end science and technology companies and also the headquarters of centrally-administered State-owned enterprises (SOEs).

The city has set a goal in 2019 to develop into an international metropolis integrating high-end industries, modern logistics, modern services and talents in northern China.

Official data show that last year the city's gross domestic product (GDP) was roughly 785.6 billion yuan ($113.8 billion) in 2018, up 7.4 percent.

To achieve its goal, the Jinan government has identified a series of work priorities for the year ahead, including boosting industrial development of the economy, its culture and tourism.

The city will continue to transform itself into an advanced and modern economy and focus more on developing emerging strategic industries and the advanced manufacturing sectors to lure more high-end companies and talents.
