Huaiyin district is ramping up efforts to advance its high-quality development, striving to develop into an area with innovation, modernization, and ecological livability in Jinan, East China's Shandong province.
The district enjoys a strong industrial foundation and is working to develop five leading emerging industries: healthcare, cultural tourism, exhibitions, logistics, and smart manufacturing.
More than 10 projects invested by centrally-administered State-owned enterprises were launched in the district, such as the Poly cultural complex, the Kunlun petroleum project, and the national medical health big data northern center.
Relying on the medical center, the district has gathered more high-quality medical resources, cutting-edge technologies, and more high-end talents to help build into a medical hub.
Huaiyin is also advancing its wide bandgap semiconductor industry development in efforts to build a semiconductor industry cluster in Jinan and northern China.
Accordingly, the total GDP of Huaiyin district was 27.57 billion yuan ($3.93 billion) in the first half of 2019 and the revenue from the general public budget reached 2.8 billion yuan, illustrating its steady and good economic environment.
Officials said that the district's economy will see increasing growth. Its GDP is expected to hit 57 billion yuan by 2020 and the general public budget will increase to 18 billion yuan.
