Jinan has made strong efforts to attract talent over the past five years, according to an announcement at a news conference on Dec 10.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), the total number of talents in the city increased from 1.4 million to 2 million.

Talent plays a vital role in promoting a city's innovative development, and the Jinan government has implemented a slew of policies to attract high-end talent from home and abroad.

A total of 126 high-end talents and 7,839 postgraduate students have come to the city over the past five years.

Jinan has also made strong efforts to cultivate technical talent. During this period, the total number of skilled workers in the city increased from 939,000 to 1.32 million, including 380,000 highly-skilled technicians.

To strengthen the cultivation of skilled workers, the city also established talent training centers. It has so far built two national and three provincial training centers for highly-skilled workers.
