Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province will focus more on sci-tech innovation and ramp up efforts to lure high-tech enterprises with supporting policies, officials announced at a news conference hosted by the municipal government on Feb 19.

Accordingly, the city aims to increase the number of high-tech enterprises to 400, as well as establish an additional 15 research and development institutions at or above the provincial level by 2021.

The Jinan government will work to accelerate the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements. The technical contract turnover is expected to reach 40 billion yuan ($6.19 billion) in 2021.

It will also focus on promoting key industrial chain development and encouraging the shift of old growth drivers to new ones.

Local authorities will issue a series of preferential policies to attract high-end talent to provide strong support for the city to develop into a regional hub in the science and technology fields.
