Jinan hosts folk cultural month festival
Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province opened its folk cultural month event on May 28 at World's Best Spring Scenic Area.

Known as the city of Springs, Jinan's folk culture month includes activities that aim to take advantage of the city's renowned scenic spots like Daming Lake and Baoutu Spring so that visitors can learn more about Jinan's folk culture, as well as the city's intangible cultural heritage products.
At the opening ceremony, a traditional Chinese art form, quyi, was performed as Jinan is famous for this kind of national intangible cultural heritage performance.
After the ceremony, folk artists showcased the working process for paper-cutting, gourd carving, seal cutting, pottery, as well as other traditional folk arts, deepening visitors' attraction to this historical and cultural city.

"By participating in these activities, I have learned that Jinan has so many folk customs and intangible cultural heritages. It's amazing," said a visitor surnamed Lin, who is not from Jinan, but has been living in the city for more than 10 years.
A series of traditional activities are also held during the festival including a traditional Chinese clothing show, a calligraphy competition, a ceramic art performance, a zongzi (a Chinese rice snack) wrapping competition, and a dough modeling exhibition.
Luoyuan folk culture street is one of the venues for Jinan's folk culture month, and is located in the northern part of Baotu Spring Park, covering an area of 2,300 square meters. It has four distinctive Jinan folk culture exhibition halls, enabling visitors to experience the city's folk culture. The festival will last until June 28.
