Jinan aims to complete the national regional medical center for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and the provincial regional TCM medical center by 2025, according to a recently released action plan.
The action plan also clarified goals for grassroots TCM hospitals and institutions. For example, 80 percent of the district and county TCM facilities are expected to be built into national demonstration ones, and 100 percent of the district and county TCM hospitals must meet the recommended national standards for medical service capacity.
In terms of building a higher level Chinese medicine service system, the action plan proposes to fully promote the construction of the Jinan Branch of Guang'anmen Hospital.
In addition, Jinan aims to specialize in 10 to 15 superior TCM practices such as cardio-cerebral vascular disease, orthopedic injuries, and rehabilitation by 2025.
Jinan also intends to build three to five flagship hospitals combining both traditional Chinese and Western medicine by 2025.
In terms of improving the institutional mechanism of TCM, Jinan plans to implement the institutionalized and normalized working mechanism of the city, district and county to promote the development of TCM.
In terms of cultivating TCM talents, the action plan proposes that the city will build 25 TCM inheritance studios and train 200 talents by 2025.
To improve the quality and competitiveness of TCM, the action plan also encourages TCM companies to innovate and conduct research.
