One Garden, Two Cities, a documentary about the friendship between Jinan and its sister city Rennes, France, recently debuted, highlighting cultural exchanges between the two cities.

The film focuses on the Jinan Garden, opened in 2024 within Maurepas Park, which features traditional Chinese landscape art. It documents the garden's construction from blueprint to reality, revealing how Chinese and French craftsmen overcame cultural differences and technical challenges. A French artisan came to China to learn dougong (bracket set) techniques, and traditional glazed tiles were transported to France.

The documentary also follows Sébastien, a resident of Rennes and champion of a Chinese language contest, tracing his journey from studying in Jinan to becoming a Chinese teacher in Rennes.

In addition, it covers a student exchange between a middle school in Rennes and Jinan Foreign Language School. French students visited key attractions such as Baotu Spring and Mingfucheng Historical Area, experienced intangible cultural heritage, and took French lessons.

The documentary announces that Jinan will make a Rennes Garden, symbolizing a new chapter in the friendship between the two cities and further strengthening cultural ties.
