Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, started its COVID-19 vaccination campaign for minors aged 12 to 14 on Aug 9.
Official data shows that as of Aug 12, 121,700 minors aged 12-14 in the city have had their first dose of COVID-19 vaccinations, with the immunization coverage rate reaching 49.45 percent.
The city began its vaccination campaign for adolescents aged 15-17 on Aug 1. As of Aug 12, 237,800 people in that age group have had their first dose of COVID-19 vaccinations, with the immunization coverage rate reaching 91.55 percent.
For people getting two-dose inactivated vaccines, the first and second doses should be administered between three and eight weeks apart.
According to the city's initial plan, people aged 15-17 will complete the two-dose process by the end of August. Those aged 12-14 will complete the first dose in August and complete the second dose in September.
Residents can register for COVID-19 vaccinations on the official WeChat account of the Jinan Municipal Center Disease Control and Prevention (ID: jncdcjiankang).
Parents or guardians are required to read consent forms thoroughly and sign their informed consent before their children receive vaccinations. They must also accompany their children on-site and be present while they are being vaccinated.
