Jinan accelerates brand building

Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, is making efforts to promote brand building to achieve its goal of transforming into a city with a strong brand influence in China, local media reported.

The city released a three-year action plan for its brand building strategy in 2020. According to the action plan, Jinan will strengthen brand building in the fields of agriculture, industry, science and technology, culture, services and construction and actively create an international consumption center to develop a city cluster of famous brands from home and abroad.

For agricultural brands, Jinan will continue to expand the influence of its renowned agricultural brands that include the Zhangqiu Chinese green onion, the Laiwu ginger, and the Pingyin rose, and promote its characteristic local brands such as the Licheng strawberry, the Shanghe flower, and the Longshan millet.

In addition, Jinan has made progress in industrial brand building. The city now is home to the country's largest heavy vehicle production base, server production base, 400 series stainless steel production base, and Asia's largest phenolic resin production base.

Jinan has cultivated a batch of high-end brand enterprises, and 90 were included in the 2022 Shandong's list of high-end brand cultivation enterprises. Up to now, 235 Jinan enterprises were included into the Shandong high-end brand cultivation enterprise list and 11 were among China's top 500 brands.

Looking forward, Jinan plans to increase policy support to encourage local enterprises to focus more on brand development and help brand enterprises become more influential and competitive.
