Jinan Intangible Cultural Records, a series of books on Jinan's intangible cultural heritage (ICH) items, was launched at the Shandong Book Mall in Shizhong district, Jinan, and attracted many inheritors of ICH items and local residents.
It marks the first book series of its kind in Jinan as well as across China, which exemplifies Jinan's leading position nationwide in terms of inheriting, organizing, recording, and editing books on intangible culture.
The books systematically explain the concept, terminology, theories, and protection practices related to ICH, and introduce Jinan's representative projects and inheritors that were included in the national, provincial, and municipal level ICH lists. It also includes a list of ICH items and inheritors from 12 districts and counties in Jinan.
The book series officially started on March 2, 2022, and went through five meetings, including an opening discussion, compilation promotion, and reviewing. The book was delivered to Xinhua Publishing House for publication and distribution at the end of December 2022.
According to Qin Xurong, associate editor of the books, Jinan Intangible Cultural Heritage Records is a reference book series that details the overall outlook of the inheritance and protection of ICH. It provides valuable resources for scientific research institutes, universities, educational and research institutions, primary and secondary schools, cultural institutions, as well as relevant scholars, ICH workers and practitioners, and theoretical researchers to master the theory, and also boasts important cultural values and inheritance significance.
