City introduction

Sacramento, the capital of California, established a sister city relationship with Jinan on May 29, 1985.

Sacramento is located in the central north of California at the junction of the Sacramento and American rivers. It has a mild climate and evergreen seasons, earning it the laudatory name of "Camellia of the world ". It covers 257 square kilometers with a population of 460,000. It is the sixth-largest city in California.

Sacramento's main industries include high-tech manufacturing, education, agriculture, animal husbandry and computers. Sacramento is one of "the space program" missile centers in the United States, a rocket manufacturing center, and science and technology research base.

Sacramento has a developed land traffic system and is a comprehensive city of industry, agriculture and tourism. It has two public universities. Davis Branch of the University of California has 23,000 students on campus, and the Sacramento Branch of California State University, which was built in 1947, 25,000 students.

Sacramento has eight international friendship cities: Chisinau in Moldova, Hamilton in New Zealand, Manila in the Philippines, Matsuyama in Japan, Yongsan in South Korea, San Jose East in Nicaragua, Valencia in Spain and Jinan.

Sacramento and Jinan

Since our establishment of sister city relationship with Sacramento, friendly exchange visits have been carried out smoothly. According to the friendly agreement signed by the two sides, we shall visit each other every other year. The communication content involves economy, culture, education, medical treatment and other major issues. In March 1991, Anne Rudin, the mayor of Sacramento, led a delegation to visit Jinan. In August of the same year, Zhai Yongbo, the then Party secretary and mayor of Jinan led a delegation to visit Sacramento. In June 1994, Xie Yutang, the then Party secretary and mayor, visited Sacramento on a delegation. In June 1996, Sun Shuyi, the municipal Party committee secretary, led a delegation to visit Sacramento. In October 2005, Heather Fargo, the mayor of Sacramento, led a delegation to visit our city.
