An expressway project encircling Jinan, capital of Shandong province, was approved on Dec 31, 2020. It will connect Jiyang and Zhangqiu districts in Jinan with Yucheng, a county-level city in Dezhou.

The two-way six-lane expressway, which is able to accommodate speeds of up to 120 km/h, has a planned length of 67.6 kilometers and width of 34.5 meters. It is expected to cost nearly 13.9 billion yuan ($2.15 billion).

The project will play a significant role in improving the expressway network in Shandong province and facilitating high-quality economic and social development of areas along the road.
