Jinan satellite assembly base set for production
The Jinan satellite assembly base, established by Jigang Group, was recently completed and passed inspection, becoming Shandong province's first flexible and intelligent facility for satellite assembly, integration, and testing. The base is now ready for production.
The first phase of the base features an 8,000-square-meter R&D facility, a 10,000-sqm ISO Class 8 cleanroom, and a 6,000-sqm testing area. It integrates satellite system design, assembly lines, full satellite testing, and a digital management and control system.
It is currently capable of producing 20 satellites annually, each weighing 500 kilograms. Within three years, its output is expected to reach 100 satellites per year, supporting the deployment and replenishment of commercial satellite constellations.
The base's core capabilities lie in assembly, environmental testing, and satellite electrical testing, encompassing storage, fault handling and comprehensive testing and data processing.
According to the company, upon commencing operations, the base carried out thermal and mechanical tests for a commercial satellite, demonstrating the reliability of its equipment and technical capacity.
The base will focus on strengthening the satellite industry chain and developing real-world applications. Jigang group plans to develop an entire satellite industry chain, foster industrial clusters and leverage digitalization to advance satellite remote sensing applications, aiming to build a national hub for satellite data utilization and services.
