2025 Guoyuan V3 Jinan Open kicks off in Jinan
The 2025 Guoyuan V3 Jinan Open is taking place at the Jinan Olympic Sports Center from Oct 5 to 18, showcasing the city's prowess in hosting world-class sporting events.
The international tennis tournament, which has been held in Jinan for six years, features the ATP Challenger 125 and WTA 125 tournaments — second-tier international tennis events — making Jinan the only city in China to host both tournaments.
This year's event has attracted 129 tennis players from 32 countries and regions, including China, the United States and the United Kingdom, several of whom are ranked in the top 100.
The recently renovated Olympic Sports Center will provide players with a world-class experience. The tournament features thrilling men's and women's singles and doubles matches, while the city is hosting complementary events, such as a "tennis experience day" and "tennis culture tour", encouraging greater public participation in tennis and highlighting Jinan's rich cultural heritage.
In recent years, Jinan has stepped up investment in improving sports infrastructure, aiming to host more high-level competitions and leverage sports to drive economic growth. In 2024, the city developed 85 sports consumption venues, with the total output of the sports industry reaching 81.86 billion yuan ($11.47 billion) and a value-added output of 29.34 billion yuan.
In 2025, Jinan is expected to host more than 3,000 competitions, further boosting public engagement in sports, promoting economic development, and showcasing the city on the international stage.
