Jinan city launches TCM cultural tourism week
The 2025 Shandong (Changqing) traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) cultural tourism week opened on Sept 24 in Jinan, capital of East China’s Shandong province.
Running through to Oct 7, the event aims to integrate TCM into everyday life, promote TCM culture and offer visitors immersive wellness experiences.
During the opening ceremony, a book on Bian Que (407-310 BC), regarded as the father of traditional Chinese medicine, was released, highlighting research, culture and relics related to this prominent figure. A lineup of TCM wellness tourism products was unveiled, including herbal study tours, hot spring experiences and cultural exhibitions.
In addition, themed documentaries and performances dedicated to Bian Que made their debut.
A TCM cultural fair at the venue invited attendees to experience traditional medicine, explore creative products and savor specialty TCM-inspired beverages and cuisines.
As the hometown of Bian Que, Changqing district will host the cultural tourism week.
Throughout the week, a variety of activities will take place, including a short video challenge, folk performances and themed markets, offering visitors further opportunities to engage with TCM culture and embark on wellness trips.
This year, Jinan has hosted more than 60 TCM cultural fairs, presenting immersive wellness experiences to over 200,000 people. In recent years, leveraging its abundant TCM resources, the city has developed TCM-themed scenic spots and promoted TCM techniques across the city.
To further develop TCM and tourism, Jinan has introduced a series of supportive policies and promoted itself as the hometown of Bian Que.
