Located in eastern and southern Jinan, Licheng district covers 1,299 square kilometers, and governs 19 subdistricts, two towns, 76 communities and 655 administrative villages.

By the end of 2017, the district is home to 309,000 households and has a population of 97,5000. The sex ratio of newborns is 97.65 male babies per 100 female babies. It is home to 6,000 people of 39 ethnic minority groups, including Hui, Manchu, Mongolian and Korean.

In 2019, the district's GDP increased by 7 percent. Its general public budget revenue grew by 9 percent to 54 billion, with tax revenue of 9.74 billion yuan, accounting for 89.9 percent of the total revenue.

In 2020, Licheng district will make full use of its historical and cultural resources, including notable historical figures and sites, to build cultural blocks and create cultural tourism routes.

The district plans to invest 10 billion yuan in 117 livelihood projects renovating old areas and designing landscapes for streets and river areas in an effort to build a livable district with a high-quality environment for residents.
