Agreements for 18 projects were signed by universities and business enterprises related to laser industry at a technological achievement transformation roadshow in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, on Sept 6.

The event aimed to establish a collaborative platform for government, enterprises, research institutions and investors in the laser industry and to promote the commercialization of tech achievements in the field.

Jinan has made great efforts in promoting its deep integration of technological and industrial innovation. In 2023, Jinan's technology contract transaction volume hit 91.61 billion yuan ($12.88 billion), retaining the top position in the province for five years.

Jinan's flourishing laser sector is regarded as the largest laser industry base in northern China. The city's export scale of laser equipment based on laser cutting has reached 4 billion yuan, ranking it first in China.

What's more, the city is home to over 300 laser companies, including more than 30 large-scale business enterprises, forming a complete industrial supply chain that covers laser crystal materials and components, high-power lasers and laser processing equipment.
