The main structure of Terminal 2 at Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport was completed on Nov 5, marking a significant step in the airport's expansion and renovation project.

With a footprint of 600,000 square meters, the terminal features a six-pier design with three separate sections, minimizing passenger travel within the terminal and enhancing convenience.

The terminal incorporates innovative features, including efficient passenger lanes and flexible gates for different flights, enhancing passenger convenience and operational efficiency.

Its design draws inspiration from Jinan's landscape, integrating elements such as mountains, water, springs, and lotus, reflecting the city's rich cultural heritage.

Terminal 2 is part of the second phase of the airport's expansion and renovation, which also includes a 387,000-square-meter integrated transport hub with a parking facility, overnight accommodations for passengers, office space, and an air traffic control tower.

Construction began in March 2019, and as of 2025, the main sections of Terminal 2 have been completed on schedule. The integrated transport hub has topped out, with the air traffic control tower finished, and the two 3,600-meter runways nearly complete.

When completed, the airport will be able to handle 55 million passengers and 520,000 metric tons of cargo and mail annually, making it Shandong province's largest aviation hub. The 4F-class facility will offer 211 aircraft stands and provide seamless connections to the high-speed railway, metro, and expressways.
