The first 3A-grade hospital on the north bank of the Yellow River in Jinan will begin operating on Dec 26, as revealed at a recent news conference held by the Jinan municipal government.

The new hospital serves as the north campus of the Second Hospital of Shandong University, located in the Cuizhai sub-district of the Jinan Start-up Area for Growth Drivers Transformation.

The facility is designed to offer a total of 2,000 beds, with construction being carried out in two phases. All preparations for phase I, covering an area of 182,700 square meters to accommodate 1,000 beds, have already been completed, and the hospital is set to officially open on Dec 26.

The initial departments to open include general medicine, ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat), obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics, covering a total of 42 specialties.

The hospital will implement scheduled appointment services, offering consultations in specific time slots. It will gradually open specialized centers focused on critical systems, key organs, and major diseases. It will also introduce innovative telemedicine and multidisciplinary consultation models to ensure high-quality, efficient, and continuous healthcare services for the public.

This new hospital campus marks a new milestone and a new phase in the development of healthcare in the Jinan start-up area, according to Han Yu, deputy director of the management committee of the Jinan Start-up Area for Growth Drivers Transformation.
